Artist's Bio:

Dark El Kante is a spanish-english play on words that means "to go off key or to act of discordant way"

His sounds ranges from Suomi to Freestyle Psy-Trance and perverse Goa-Trance, or even sometimes plays Psychedelic Ambient & Downtempo dj sets.

Since more than 15 years now he has been playing in different events around the world or playing dj sets in different radio stations.
From 2005 to 2010 and playing under the label Adama Rec., he was an active participant in the Psy-Trance scene of Scotland, being events promoter and dj resident in a few clubs.
Later he was label dj of the epic japanese 6D-Soundz and today is the manager of Random Records, compiling the V.A. albums Indigenous S.O.S, Psychotria Viridis, Shamanic Icaro, Native Planet, Survival International Vol.1 & 2, Uncontacted Awa and Saamisaundi, all part of a benefit project, trying to help indigenous people around the world.

Stephen Fraser (Aramaiti)I am 32, I was born in Glasgow and moved to Stonehaven at the age of 11 where I lived up until 2012 when I moved to the village of Auchenblae in the foothills of the Grampian mountains. I have been blessed with a 3 year son called Elijah. I became part of Stonehaven's underground and alternative music scene when I was 18 playing instrumental music  and Djing. The musical movement in Stonehaven and the north east of of Scotland is starting to come into it's own currently and I am very privileged to be a part of it's flowering. I play downtempo, progressive psytrance and goa trance and love the culture and it's heritage in the far and middle east. So at the moment I am playing for friends and recently getting involved in the Scottish psytrance scene thanks to some of it's great promoters. My heart lives in the natural world and playing music to the trees, plants and animal's is also a great privilege. Namaste friends and blessings for the journey.

Radioactive.Cake, Zeitgeist, Munstrous, Dark Passenger…that’s all Robert H. from Berlin Germany. Not only music producers and performer for many years, he also established the music label Glitchy.Tonic.Records in September 2009, which is now one of the leading forces in the "Alternative Psytrance Trance" - or what's often refered to as Dark Prog or Zenonesque. 

Taking the first musical steps around the time of the millennium, his skills and technique and productions were constantly evolving and advancing over the years. In late 2008 he felt he finally reached the quality to go way more professional. He brought Radioactive.Cake and Zeitgeist to life, aiming for releases and gigs and of course for good feedback. Getting all three, he soon wanted another challenge or rather more ways of expressing his musical creativity and he started Munstrous and Dark Passenger.

Today, Robert can look back on an extremely long list of releases and has gained quite some experience performing his stuff live. About Aurora:

Aurora is a DJ and party promoter from the north of Scotland.  He's been involved in the psy-trance scene since the late 90s when he first travelled on winter retreat to Goa for the famous full-moon beach parties in Anjuna and Vagator.  Locally Aurora has run several nights in his hometown Inverness and now DJs for the myriad and varied components of Psychedelic Scotland, often guesting at Cosmic Edinburgh and Psychedelicious Aberdeen.  Internationaly he's spun in locations as far flung as Japan and India.  He still organizes occasional outdoor parties in wild and remote parts of Scotland (his true passion) with the invaluable help and support of Cosmic crew and others.

An exclusive live set from the Frequency Jammers!  Based out of Liverpool in the UK are the duo Kev Muldoon and Alan Farragher.  Kev and Alan have worked together for four years now, producing and playing out their unique live sets, complete with drum machines and guitar.  This set is a recording from a set performed at Cosmic last year.

Artists bio:

The man behind Para Halu is Adam Hohmann from Hungary – a multi-talented musician and producer who, since his very young age has been always enchanted by music. As a child he learned to play the accordion, which later changed to piano and synthesizers however, he really enjoyed playing any instruments he ever met. After discovering computer based music production and trying himself in different compositions from beatless ambient music to dirty ass-kicking drum’n'bass, he began writing psychedelic tunes as Para Halu in the year 2002.

The past years have seen Para Halu as part of many first class international lineups all over the world from Japan to Brazil, from huge crowded parties and festivals such as Universo Paralello, Ozora, Soulclipse or Fullmoon Festival to indoor clubs and underground outdoor gatherings.

Meanwhile Para Halu released countless tracks on various compilations as well as five succesful albums: self-distributed “No Para Full Halu” (2003) was followed by “The World Of Peace” (Parvati Records 2005), “Space Rock” (2007) and a special collaboration album “Wide Range” (2008).

The latest full-length Para Halu work, a double CD album called “The Future Sound Of Para Halu” was released recently on Adam’s own label Psylife Music, established in 2006 as a platform for innovative psychedelic trance music.

Short after Psylife Music, a sub-label for progressive tunes has also been created: Halu Beats Records released its first compilation in 2008 with Sensient, Kalumet, Minimal Criminal and remixes including the one made from the Ace Ventura gem “Rebirth” by Adam Hohmann himself.

It was in the underground forest doofs and festivals like Boom during the 90s in Portugal where PsyUbik began to develop his taste for this mind-blowing music. Later driven by the pulse of psychedelic free rave culture in Scotland he mastered how to play/pause a track and started bashing out the tunes in all sort of crazy venues causing a change in consciousness on the fluorgreen dance floor.

Co-founder of Planet Monkey (Edinburgh) in 2004 and promoting Psychedelia in Scotland since, PsyUbik always put on a sharp and versatile performance while playing mind bending psy with dirty beats and heavy bass lines. His DNA is designed for the underground scene and the sets are a trippy journey through a full spectrum of psychedelic sounds. He is also one of the organisers and resident DJ at Cosmic, the longest running psytrance clubnight in Edinburgh and recently after collaborating with some producers such as; Flooting Grooves, Sleep Paralysis and Discoordination he is inspired to master the art of producing his own tunes.

A Project Headed towards Infinity all are welcome to join......The project is Bishal a.k.a Satish and his wife Susan supported by all of their friends and family From the outskirts of Kathmandu valley ...a little hilltop town called Kirtipur in NEPAL " The land of mystics". After his Lucid Sonic Hyper Dimensional meeting(read in his DREAM) with the techno shaman Goa Gil and his wife Ariane his whole life took on a new meaning and a new found glory of living to the will of Existence. Heavily into the Dark side of the musical Realm exploring different dimension of Death metal and the likes he played with various local Metal bands as vocalist and guitarist from the early nineties and literally lived the sex, drugs and rock n roll lifestyle and survived. After his Cosmic Dance with the Ferocious DArk Deities he got his showering of liquid ecstasy and visions for his Project "Smoking Shiva". His Ultimate Sacrifice for Un-sanity(Beyond Sanity) was the consumption of 159 pieces of local road side Belladum seeds which took him to the Baba Koteshwor Mahadev. He is crazy as hell and his frequency from the Dark side of the Existence provokes the hidden energy from the Kunda within all living beings giving U the Ultimate Reality Check. 

He may not be your so called technically Proficient Dj or producer but he believes his Craft to be not that of practice but that of letting go and letting the Spirit take over and merging the unconcious of his fellow Humans with the Void from where all life seems to Manifest.

This month we bring you a chaotic mix of psycore stoked with atomic energy!   Introducing Kalilaskov AS (or Vadim Cherkashin to his friends).  Kalilaskov means 'the kind one' in Belorussian and the AS stands for Atomic Station.  Why, you may ask?

Well, Vadim is a survivor of the devastation wrought by the nuclear meltdown at the Chernobyl reactor in the former USSR, living very close to the disaster as it happened.  Soon after the catastrophe Vadim and his family moved to Israel where he first got exposure to the psytrance scene, and where his new friends dubbed him 'the kind one'!  

As far as his music life goes Vadim has produced his own material from the word go, first under the french Nabi records label and now with Blittz Studios, where he's contracted to make his first full solo album very soon.

Kalilaskov AS is Vadim Cherkashin. He was born in the USSR near Chernobyl and after the infamous atomic disaster in the region he moved to Israel with his family.
Now live in Germany - Berlin.
In Israel Vadim fell in love with psychedelic trance and eventually decided to pursue his own solo project. Around the same time the nickname Kalilaskov first appeared. Initially it was only a name used by Vadim's close friends to address him (translated as "the kind one" from Belorussian). But later Vadim adopted this name as his permanent alias and added AS to it, which stands for Atomic Station. Thereby Kalilaskov AS was officially born.
It did not take long for the global psytrance community to take notice of the young musician and his unique music. The very first release came out on the French Nabi Records and after that multiple compilation releases followed on some of the best labels in the world.
Kalilaskov's best of came out in 2008 on Digital Drugs Coalition under the title "Killas" and incorporated Vadim's most renowned compilation tracks. Today Kalilaskov AS is signed to the world famous Russian-Australian giant Blitz Studios and his first full length solo album is to come out very soon!!!
At present Kalilaskov AS is playing all over the world at various indoor and outdoor events, club parties and festivals! Catch him near you :)

A psy mashup set of sorts….ethereal, rollicking and spacey trance weaved together with cleaner club sounding psy-tech goes someway to describing this superb set from Marciana (Back To Mars).  Marciana is originally from Brazil but has been resident in Amsterdam since the 90s, where she stayed in the ELF community soon after arriving.  Here she made her creative contacts including the infamous '9 lives of Hofmann' crew who she later teamed up with, investing her time and music energy into building that part of the Dam's psychedelic scene, all the while honing her skills as an international DJ. 

Since then Marciana has performed across Europe and recently taken pen to paper, sharing her perspectives on Amsterdam's psychedelic scene in 'Psychedelic Traveller 'magazine.  Links can be found on her website.  Meanwhile we hope you enjoy the set :)

Born in Brazil, Back to Mars (Marciana) has been living in Europe for a very long time. Psytrance got into her life right after she arrived in Amsterdam in the late 90's and went to live in the ELF, a big squat that housed a community of many artists, musicians, DJs, producers, painters, shamans and freaks.

It was in 2001 that DJ'ing became a part of her, when she started helping with building and playing at the parties from 9 Lives of Hofmann, an underground Psytrance crew from Amsterdam and she has since grown into a versatile DJ.
 
Her style is either Minimal Progressive Psytrance (Zenonesque) or Dark Psytrance and often she likes mixing them to create a journey, so she enjoys the freedom of doing that which fits the time and suits the place.
 
In Amsterdam, she also plays Deep House, Lounge, World music and Tech House in lounge bars.

She has performed in Austria, Brazil, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Holland, Hungary, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden.

Sleep Paralysis is Giorgos Mitropapas, a psytrance DJ and producer from Greece, now resident at Edinburgh's foremost and longest running psytrance night, Cosmic!   As well as DJ'ing and making tunes, Giorgos is a web and graphic designer, and even finds time to make helpful music production tutorials online.  This is a live recording of a stomping closing set he performed at Cosmic's 5th anniversary last October.  Enjoy :)

Sleep Paralysis is Giorgos Mitropapas, a Greek electronic music composer and DJ based in Edinburgh. He always had a passion for music in general, mostly rock and metal in his early days. He  started getting involved into electronic music during his studies in the UK, around 1995. He was exposed to artists like Ozric Tentacles, Shpongled, Hallucinogen, and a whole other artists influenced by the psychedelic and dance wave . In about 2005 he got seriously involved into electronic music production and started learning various music software with an intent to create original and expressive  electronic music that satisfied his need for personal expression. He is part of the Planet Monkey collective (www.planetmonkey.co.uk)  that run the Cosmic psychedelic  trance club night in Edinburgh for a few years now. Pappe (Rene Pape) is 34 Years old and comes from the north part of Germany. His interest in DJìng started in the mid 90`s,where he encounted with the young Technoscene. Pappe`s first official gig took place at the Ganesh Tribe in 1999. He started to mix with Vinyl and later changed to Cd and Laptop. From 2004-2010 he was resident DJ at the "Rappelkiste" and "Teonanacatl" Party`s in the Alhambra wich is located in Oldenburg. 'Raviv aka WickedBrain aka Goaviv is Playing music allready 30 years. Around 1993 he came across the Techno scene and got himself infected....1995(it took him so long to find the right music ) first gig as PsyTrance DJ (Goaviv). 4 years later he start producing his own music. 'I discovered psy trance in 2002 through my mate Ash (Celtic Psy forum keymaster/Psilocybe Tribe(prev.k/a DossePosse)), after 25 years of northern soul & 2 years of techno!

I began accumulating tunes, going to club nights-Alien Resonance/Sunrise/U.V/Kulu/Cabbage & outdoor psy parties in North Wales.

I never set out to be a dj, I just wanted to hear my taste in psy trance. I began by playing a few tunes @ the end of outdoor parties when everyone else was too wasted to play.

Then, based on my enthusiasm & taste, (I think !?) Bez23(Kulu) asked me if I was up for playing @ Kulu (Bradford May 2005) WoW-my chance to play my favourite tunes. I wasn't gonna turn that chance down just because I couldn't dj !

I had 2 months to get to grips with the mechanics of dj ing, anyway its the tunes that count !!

It's been & still is a slow but interesting learning curve this dj malarkey. But, hey I'm enjoying it & for as long as they keep making tickety boo tunes that make me move I'll keep wanting to play them.

'Sylvan Bios know as Q to his friends and family has been an avid psy-fanatic since the 90's. He is South African born and now resided in Scotland. Having travelled through Israel in 2000 and having been in there for the rise of such greats as Infected Mushroom, Astrix and many more it left a lasting impression. He brings to the Scottish Psytrance scene a style that is both twilight and full-on that has sometimes been described as easy to dance to as to listen too.' 

A regular contributor to the show, Whirling Dervish (Lee Sexton) presents another pumping set of psy-tech and trance, just the pick-me-up needed to scare off the last of the winter chill.  Lee is based in Dundee and mainly plays out at parties in Scotland having made several appearances as guest DJ for Random and Headroom.

"AstroPilot comes from Siberia, Russian Federation.  Behind the name is Dmitry Red'ko.

For the past 10 years he has been experimenting with music and sounds.

His music is the direct outcome of his true passion for the sonic world and a lot of hard work in the studio. AstroPilot has quickly become a well recognized name in Psychedelic Ambient circles. His music is a reflection, and combines the culture, sights and sounds form his homeland.

AstroPilot manages to generate a considerable buzz especially in the local Russian Psychedelic club scene and as a result has been grabbing the attention from some of the bigger names in the industry. When listening to his music, it is sometimes hard to believe that behind his sound there is just a 26 year old lad who loves to express his visions through his music.

So, Undertoad, dont ask! I'm Neil, i come from Newcastle and to quote Sam Cook, " I like psytrance for breakfast" ! Im a folk musician who developed a love for psychadelic music after living with the Ozric Tentacles in Wimbledon in the eighties, going to festivals and seeing bands like the Ullulators and The Oroonies, (still my favourite ever live band). I usually play alongside partner in psytrance PsyWave (Mark Zf of Zoviet France) Mark taught me how to build a set, how to create a mood on the dancefloor, we do harder faster more full on sets but tend to drift back to progressive uplifting tracks.

Artist bio:

Aurora has been involved in the psy trance scene since the late ninties when he first travelled to India and experienced some of the earliest Goa trance parties in the costal villages of Vagator and Anjuna.

As well as playing at parties in India and his native Scotland, Aurora has founded Headroom, a psy-trance night in the far north of Scotland, and more recently Ohm, a psy-chill and psybient night launching this December in Inverness.  In July of 2008 he created Back To Goa podcast; starting with a very small following of listeners the show has now blossomed and receives over 8000 downloads per month spanning some 27 episodes.  This is thanks to the kindness and support of the psytrance community of DJs and producers (both established and new) who submit their mixes to the show each month.

Kained & Able is the London based project of Steven Johnson and Nolan Luijten. Having met at a party in 2007, they bonded over a shared vision in progressive Psy and a fetish for cross-dressing. They went on to form the Kained & Able project in 2008 and have spent the past year refining and performing their underground blend of psychedelic trance across the UK and beyond. With a primary focus on heavy proggy beats, twisted sound design and hands on live performance, their taste for a minimal and darker form of progressive Psytrance has led them to become a regular feature in the London scene. 'Para Halu is Adam Hohmann from Hungary - a multi-talented musician and producer who, since his very young age has been always enchanted by music. As a child he learned to play the accordion, which later changed to piano and synthesizers however, he really enjoyed playing any instruments he ever met. After discovering computer based music production and trying himself in different compositions from beatless ambient music to dirty ass-kicking drum'n'bass, he began writing psychedelic tunes as Para Halu in the year 2002.

The past years have seen Para Halu as part of many first class international lineups all over the world from Japan to Brazil, from huge crowded parties and festivals such as Universo Paralello, Ozora, Soulclipse or Fullmoon Festival to indoor clubs and underground outdoor gatherings. 

Meanwhile Para Halu released countless tracks on various compilations as well as five succesful albums: self-distributed "No Para Full Halu" (2003) was followed by "The World Of Peace" (Parvati Records 2005), and two special conceptual albums "Space Rock" and "Wide Range" (Zaikadelic Records 2007 and 2008). The latest full-length Para Halu work called "The Future Sound Of Para Halu" was released recently on Adam's own label Psylife Music.

Short after Psylife Music, a sub-label for progressive beats has also been started: Halu Beats Records released its first compilation in 2008 with Sensient, Kalumet, Minimal Criminal and remixes including the one made from the Ace Ventura gem "Rebirth" by Adam Hohmann himself.'

Taking the show back to its dark psychedelic roots, this month we present an exclusive mix from Brazil's Necropsycho.  In this mix Nuccho takes us on a dark chaotic trip at breakneck speed, using only his latest 2010 productions.  All these tracks will soon be available on Necropsycho's debut album 'Macabra Queen', released later this year.  Prepare yourself..... 

Artists own bio:  

'Necropsycho was formed in 2003 by two friends, Nuccho and Hermann. In the city of Guarulhos / SP in Brazil. 

His productions are based on heavy melodies, timbres laniatus, creating an atmosphere obscure and influenced by goatrance, hardcore, gabba, industrial. 

In 2004 began to appear in SP in the main party dedicated psicodelia night. Starting to highlight the scenario Dark psychelic, passed by large festival in SP, MG and Go/Brazil . Playing alongside major national and international artists.  In 2006 they were invited to participate in various labels and started the calls for the first releases. 

Today, the project Necropsycho is being taken only by Nuccho, following soil in this journey, took his Ep launched in May 2008 by the label Metropolis Rec and also preparing an album split with the artists and Demonizz Bash once more be launched by the Dead Tree Productions. In August 2008 his first start Tour outside Brazil, is presented in Guatemala and Costa Rica and September awaits its first tuor by europe, presenting the countries, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Poland, Sweden. 

Starts in 2009, is already getting ready for second time in Europe, presenting in Italy, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Belgium. Returning to tour Europe, spending most important festivals in Brazil (Fora do Tempo and Samsara) and December and going through Costa Rica and closing years 2009 playing in Bahia - Brazil, Universo Paralello festival.

This year 2010, is preparing her first album debut. expected to launch in mid-year.'

To celebrate Back To Goa fast approaching its second year we've compiled all the stats over the months to see which bonus sets were download and enjoyed the most by the listeners.  From this we've made a top 3 for you to enjoy in case you missed them earlier :)

Since starting the show we've had sets gifted from new DJs/producers as well as established international acts.  Every mix we've received has been full of energy and passion and we'd like to thank these guys for their kindness and for sharing their creativity.

Hi My name is Nitin and I am originally from India currently residing in Edinburgh. The music I get drawn to has to have a melodic touch to it although I am not opposed to the idea of playing other stuff. This is well highlighted in almost all of my musical endeavours.  I have been Djing on and off for the past 6 years .

I can dj any genre of music but psytrance is where the heart is. The sets I make speak loads and have a theme and purpose behind them. I like doing long outdoor sets...:-).....I am into music production as well and am currently working on innovative ideas to create new sounds.  Apart from that I am an Engineer and currently doing a MSc in Digital composition and performance at the University of Edinburgh.

An exclusive guest mix this time from Onionbrain!

Onionbrain is solo project from Bruno Azalim, producer from Brazil. He began to produce electronic music in 2005, influenced by dark psychedelic and progressive trance. Onionbrain has developed an alien kind of dark progressive trance, deep and rhythmic, sometimes minimalistic. In 2008 he released his debut EP 'Onionbrain & The Aliens - Multiverse Theories', and in 2009 released a compilation by Mind Tweakers Records called 'Innerself' which gathered the attention of the world through this new emergence of hypnotic progressive trance. He Has played in some of the main festivals and parties in Brazil, like Ecologic, Earthdance, Festival Fora do Tempo, Samsara and Universo Paralello.

Radioactive.Cake, real name Robert Hundt, is a Berlin based producer of intelligent psygressive trance music with a touch of wilderness, dark fx and a carrot...from outer space! He produces a more minimal and darker form of progressive psytrance. The Cake's intention is to surpass boundaries and establish a sound that is different from what is heard all too often. 

His first musical steps were taken in 1999 when discovering the software "Audiomulch" and learning about structure and composition of electronic sounds, effects and track arrangements. But the Cake's knowledge and studio equipment took a continual advancement and will continue to do so. I started djing in 96' playing with different forms of music and learning the basics and fundamentals of djing, but in 1999 we (Labyrinth & I) went to our first psytrance party, and it changed everything. We've been playing electronic music in various forms for almost 10 years now. Moving from hard german trance to more anthem style trance to nu skool breaks to progressive into techno and so on... all keeping it very atmospheric , hypnotic, and very universal. I still play many forms of music because each moment in life requires a different sound, but I am mostly focused on darker progressive/techno/tribal and darker melodic psytrance with bounce.From 07' to 09' ive been fortunate enough to play outside Paris (Aracdia Festival), Montreal (with Biogenisis), Melbourne Australia, New York, Northern Cali (Gemini festival), Atlanta GA, Knoxville TN, Charlotte NC, Asheville NC (Equniox Festival), and in our hometown Greenville SC at various locations playing beside some top notch producers such as, Solead, Shotu, Artifakt, Scorb, Random, D sens, Naked Tourist, Mubali, Kri, BSM, Pena, Prime Time, plus lots more. I also make up half of the duo Bioluminescense together with Labyrinth producing deep psychedelic progressive tribal beats for the soul.
